Harrietta Ann Wilson's Obituary
Harrietta Ann Wilson, affectionately known as "Hetta", age 83, of Casey, IL passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham IL. She was born September 5, 1940 in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Harry Morton Montgomery and Iva Irene (Johnson) Montgomery. On March 7, 1988 she married the love of her life, James Leonard Wilson in Terre Haute, IN.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Wilson of Casey, IL; brothers, John Montgomery (Becky) of Flat Rock, IL and Wayne Montgomery (Karen) of Flat Rock, IL; stepchildren, Rebecca Peno (Scott) of Effingham IL; Mark Wilson (Linda) of Tilden, NB and Edward Wilson of Casey, IL; sister in law, Virginia Montgomery of Flat Rock, IL; step grandchildren, Jared Peno (Ashlee) of Glen Carbon, IL; Matt Peno (Jackie) of Effingham, IL and Weston Peno (Cathleen)of Effingham IL; nephews and nieces, Jeff Montgomery (Noreen) of Warrenton, MO; Joni Price (Jim) of Sanborn, IN; Stacey Shew (Steve) of Robinson, IL; Tracey Ferguson of Robinson, IL; Jerri Davis (Beau) of Flat Rock, IL and Scott Montgomery (Alison) of Greenwood, IN; several step great grandchildren and great nephews and great nieces and their beloved dog Annie. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gene Montgomery; niece, Pamela Montgomery; nephews, Brent Montgomery and Sean Montgomery and great nephew, Thomas Ferguson.
Harrietta was a 1958 graduate of Robinson High School and continued her education at Eastern Illinois University, graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree in education. She worked as a 3rd grade teacher for Cumberland County School district for many years. Harrietta was a faithful member of Casey White Oak Church of God where she played the piano and was a member of the CWO Women 's Group. She attended Flat Rock Christian Church for many years. Hetta was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed collecting cardinals and bells. Harrietta and Jim cherished any time they could spend together, they especially enjoyed square dancing and spending time with their pets. Harrietta was Jim biggest fan when he participated in Horseshoe events.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Inman officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
