Gwendolyn "Bay" Gilbert's Obituary
Gwendolyn (Gwen)"Bay" Gilbert, 86, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 4:07 a.m. on March 10, 2012 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. Bay was born on October 21, 1925 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Burl Clements and Amy Mae Knight Clements. On March 23, 1946, she married Steward Rowland Gilbert in Terre Haute, IN. He passed away on June 1, 2010. Bay is survived by her daughter, Sharon Johnson and husband Jimmy of Casey, IL; son, Rick Gilbert and wife Brenda of Martinsville, IL; brothers, Charles Clements of FL and Jimmy Clements of Terre Haute, IN; sister, Esther Conatser of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Carrie Davis, Amy Loftis, Dawn Gilbert, Steward Gilbert and Dana Gilbert; great grandchildren, Richard, Cayla Ann, Jeremy and Jackie Arnold, Sydney, Lance, Taylor, Leslie and Mariah Loftis, Avery and Hunter Walden and Paige and Nick Davis and great great granddaughter, Ellie Mae Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Bay was a homemaker and co-owned the family farm. She was a member of the St. Grace- Eastern Star of Martinsville, IL, The Ever Ready Club in Martinsville, IL and she loved making quilt tops and homemade rolls. She also loved spending time with her grandkids and spoiling them. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Moss Cemetery north of Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to Green Moss Cemetery Fund c/o Dale Walters 19202 N Cline Orchard Rd. Marshall, IL 62441.
