Gertrude M "Gertie" Biggs' Obituary
Gertrude M. Biggs, 90, of Casey, IL passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. She was born October 13, 1920 in Harrison, MI, the daughter of James Spencer Lane and Gladys Graham Lane. Survivors include son, Randall James Biggs of Cohoes, NY; daughter, Sue Feltner and husband Bill "Flea" Feltner of Casey, IL; daughter, Barb Applegate of Casey, IL; sister, Edith Simpson of Clare, MI; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, infant daughter, Sheral Biggs; brother, James Lane; sister, Helen Boyer; daughter in law, Toni Biggs; son in law, Myron Applegate and three grandchildren. Gertie worked at the Casey Ettlebrick Shoe Factory for over twenty years. She co-owned the Main Street Tavern in Casey from 1970 to 1979. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Ron Juenger officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday morning at the funeral home.
