Gerhard Bruno Meissner's Obituary
Gerhard Bruno Meissner, age 89, of Casey, IL passed away at 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Simple Blessings in Casey, IL. He was born June 19, 1930 in Ludwikow, Poland, the son of Otto Meissner and Else Grubert Meissner. On August 23, 1971 he married Cleta B. Parker in Reno, NV; she passed away on August 18, 2003. Survivors include his sisters, Alice Mewes of Berlin, Germany and Helga Toerfel of Rangsdorf, Germany; local nieces and nephew, Janice Decker (Carroll) of Casey, IL; Peggy Hickox (Brad) of Casey, IL and Chuck Parker (Barbara) of Charleston, IL and many great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cleta Meissner and brother, Erich Meissner. Bruno moved to the United States in 1956; he used comic books as a resource to learn the English language. Bruno retired as a welder from Remco Hydraulics in Willits, CA. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. At his request there will be no services. He will be interred with his wife in Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Memorial donations may be to Lincolnland Hospice, 1004 Health Center Drive, Mattoon, IL 61938.
