George S. Grant, age 87, of Decatur, TN, formerly of Clark and Cumberland County, IL, died on Monday, June 6, 2005 at East Ridge Hospital in Decatur Funeral mass was held on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Michael Cummings officiating. Burial was in the Sullins Cemetery with full military honors. Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens, TN was in charge of the arrangements. He was the son of Harold of Leota Grang. He married Ruth Prendergast; she survives. He was a member of the Casey High School Class of 1935 and the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He served in the US Army during WWII and later retired after 33 years as a dispatcher from Standard Oil of Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Prendergast Grand of Decatur, TN, one daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Burnette of Ten Mile, TN, three sons, Patrick Grant and wife Mary Ann of Niota, TN, James Grant of Antioch, TN and John Grant and wife Linda of Centerville, OH, six grandchildren: Brian, David, Melissa and Joseph Grant, Sharon Watson and John Burnette and five great-grandchildren.
