Genevieve Lillian Hickox's Obituary
Genevieve Lillian Hickox, 90, of Casey, IL passed away at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born February 16, 1924 in Oblong, IL the daughter of Otis James Malone and Flora Mae Hungerford Malone. Survivors include her son, Tim Hickox and wife Chery of Casey, IL; daughter, Mary Lee Christmas of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Stacey Hickox and wife Connie of Casey, IL and Chris Hickox and wife Lynde of Fairfield, IL; great grandchildren, Eli Hickox, Ethan Hickox, Benton Hickox, Isaiah Hickox and Mia Hickox; brother, Loran Malone of Columbus, MS and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Clarence Malone, Dale Malone and Ivan Malone and sisters, Juaneta Irish, Dortha Dykstra, Inez Irby and Ruth Cooper. Genevieve was a graduate of Oblong High School and Indiana State University earning her Master of Education in Elementary Education. Mrs. Hickox retired after teaching for over thirty seven years. She taught at the Cottonwood, Willow Hill and Hazel Dell Schools and taught special reading and 1st and 2nd grade at Monroe Elementary School in Casey. She was a member of the Word of Life Church in Casey, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Ken "Bud" Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, south of Annapolis, IL. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
