Gene Schiver's Obituary
Gene Schiver, 80, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 11:37 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born July 17, 1928 in Casey, Illinois, the son of John C. Schiver and Essie A. Smith Schiver. On April 7, 1972 he married Wanda Wolfe Comer. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Schiver; daughter, Norma McNicol and husband Joe of Patoka, IL; daughter, Donna Comer of Centralia, IL; son, Randy Comer and wife Carol of Kinmundy, IL; son, Franklin Schiver and wife Linda of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Ginger Schiver Vreeland and husband Dan of Royalton, IL; daughter, Iona Schiver Gross and husband Durward of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Kathy Schiver Whitehead and husband Robert of Canyon Lake, TX; daughter, Angie Schiver Goodman and husband Mark of Casey, IL; brother, David Schiver and wife Bernie of Martinsville, IL; sister, Iris Ramsey and husband Howard of Arthur, IL; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His parents, sister, Frances Dickinson and grandson, Travis Gross preceded him in death. Gene was retired from a lifetime of farming. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, Round Grove Sportsman's Club, Clark County Farm Bureau. He served as the Superintendent of the Sheep Barn at the Martinsville Agricultural Fair in Martinsville, IL and was a 4-H Leader for many years. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Illinois with Rev. Marvin Oakley officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery north of Casey, IL. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning. Memorial donations may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church, P.O. Box 55, Casey, IL 62420. Memorial tributes may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com.
