Gary Eugene Davidson's Obituary
Gary Eugene Davidson, 64, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011 at his home in his sleep after a weekend surrounded by his family. He was born December 6, 1946, in Moline, IL, the son of Marion "Pete" Eugene Davidson and Katheryne W. Fessenbeck Davidson. On October 9, 2010, he married Vicky L. Hayden at Red Bud Lake in Martinsville, IL. Survivors include his wife, Vicky Davidson of Martinsville, IL; father, Marion "Pete" Davidson and stepmother Nancy of Casey, IL; son, Mike Davidson and wife Robin of Casey, IL; son, Harold Davidson and wife Tammy of Casey, IL; son, Jesse Davidson and wife Shauna of Casey, IL; son, Shawn Davidson and wife Jamie of Greenup, IL; son, Mike Starwalt and wife Nikki of Mattoon, IL; son, Chris Starwalt and wife Mandi of Charleston, IL; son, Randy Warfel and wife Donna of Charleston, IL; son, Jerry Woodfall and wife Leanne of Paris, IL; daughter, Theresa Taylor and husband Jarrod of Mattoon, IL; brother, Dale Harthan of the Dominican Republic; sister, Bobbi Aerosmith of Paris, IL; sister, Dawn Wallace of Martinsville, IL; stepsister, Ellen Oschenbin of Libertyville, IN; twenty-four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Glen Eric Davidson. Gary was a US Army veteran, serving his country from 1965 to 1972, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Casey VFW, the American Legion, D.A.V., and the Casey White Oak Church of God. Gary was previously employed as a Firefighter and E.M.T. in Charleston, IL; Quebecor in Effingham, IL; Justrite Manufacturing in Mattoon, IL and Rohel, Vitran and Vanderhaden Truck Companies. Gary had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing. He sang throughout the area for many occasions and especially enjoyed the opportunities to sing with his dad and his stepsister. His voice will very much be missed. Gary is now rejoicing with the Heavenly Choir. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Art Orndorff and Rev. Kenny Inman officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
