Freeman Lemar Biggs' Obituary
Freeman Lemar Biggs, 85, of Hazel Dell, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. He was born March 31, 1921 in Casey, IL to Roy Biggs and Hazel Irene Brandenburg Biggs. On May 26, 1951 in Hazel Dell, IL, he married Mildred Hawker; she survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Marietta Jo "Jody" Biggs of Westfield, IL and Patricia Sharp and husband Mike of Highland, IL; grandchildren, Andee Swick, Kyle Biggs, Brandon and Clayton Sharp and sister, Bille JoAnn Owen of St. Joseph, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Randall Biggs and sister, Tressie Bennett. Freeman was a retired Operating Engineer Local 841 of Terre Haute, IN where he operated a bulldozer for over 50 years. He was a WWII Army veteran, where he served in the field artillary in Germany and a charter member of the Hazel Dell American Legion Post #1230. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Hazel Dell Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Rue officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. at Markwell & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hazel Dell Cemetery (North) with Graveside Military Rites by Hazel American Legion and Casey VFW. Memorials may be made Alzheimer's Association.
