Fred Edward McVey's Obituary
Fred Edward McVey, age 85, of Westfield, IL passed away at 4:11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born November 14, 1932 in Woodman, KY the son of Elzie Clifford McVey and Nellie Mae Justice McVey. On January 4, 1959 he married Barbara Lee McClain in Roslyn, IL.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Barbara McVey of Westfield, IL; son, Adam McVey (Linda) of Atlanta, IL; daughter, Vicki Schuman (Bill) of Wentzville, MO; daughter, Marsha Lee (Paul) of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Eli McVey (Erin), Payton McVey, Briley McVey (Lyndi), Tyler Hardway, Paige Kramer (Tom) and Jeffrey Lee (Heather); great grandchildren, Miles and Emerson Lee and Caroline Kramer; many nephews and nieces and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Elmer McVey and sister, Jackie Partlow.
Fred was a 1951 graduate of Casey High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Fred returned from the military and spent his life farming in the Westfield, IL area. He was a member of the Charleston Gun Club and Clark County Farm Bureau. He previously served on the Westfield School Board and Bank of Casey Board of Directors. In 2000 Fred was the recipient of the Clark County Conservation Farmer of the Year awarded by Clark County Soil and Water Conservation District. Fred and Barbara enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida and cherished time spent with their family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery, south of Westfield, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and Westfield American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
