Eugene Finney's Obituary
Eugene "Gene" F. Finney, 86, of Casey, Illinois, passed away at 9:43 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on October 17, 1923 in Oilfield, Illinois, the son of Leon M. Finney and Viola S. Southard Finney. On August 2, 1942, he married Mary E. Hall in St. Charles, Missouri. Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years of marriage, Mary E. Finney of Casey, IL; son, Richard Finney of Fairbanks, AK; son, Brad Finney and companion, Christine Jackson of Casey, IL; daughter, Marilyn Ross of Casey, IL; brother, Paul Finney and wife Wilma of Bel Air, MD; brother in law, Dale Hall of Nashville, TN; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and sisters, Wanda Burdett and Lela Brown Robey. Gene was a US Air Force WWII veteran. He loved to fly and was an avid pilot. There was a time when he and Mary owned a plane and didn't have a car. Gene worked as a welder for Cash Matzenbacher in the oilfield, for M.L. Hulcher on a train wreck crew and owned and operated Gene's Auto Sales for over twenty years. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Finney officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
