Erma Cox's Obituary
Erma S. Cox, age 87, of Kansas, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Cumberland Nursing Center in Greenup. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at the Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey with Rev. Gene Southard officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2005 at the funeral home and burial will be in the Casey-Cumberland Cemetery. She was born February 25, 1918 in Greenup, the daughter of Guy R. and Ida Houser Carlen. She married Wayne Cox on July 24, 1944 in Cumberland County; he preceded her in death on April 3, 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nebo Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and enjoyed growing flowers, especially African violets. Her grandchildren always knew that there would be something baked at Grandma's house and they learned at an early age where to find the toys. With love, she made quilts and afghans for her children and grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Ida Marie Hunt and husband Othie, Jr of Westfield and Ruth Ann Finley and husband Tom of Greenup, six grandchildren Darrin, Jennifer and Jerry Hunt, and Daniel, Kristopher and Jeffrey Finley, six great-grandchildren, Logan, Lyndsy, Lance and Luke Hunt and Kaylan and Hannah Finley, sister Ila Carrell of Toledo and brother Ramoth Carlen and wife Nadine of Bonnie, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, William and John Carlen and one grandson, Clint Hunt. Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Nursing Center or Lincolnland Hospice.
