Elsie Irene Floyd's Obituary
Elsie Irene Floyd, age 83, died on Friday, May 27, 2005 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. She was born August 14, 1921 in Greenup, IL, the daughter of Oris Thomas and Zetta Mae Tipsword Grissom. She married Russell Floyd in St. Charles, MO; he preceded her in death on June 12, 1990. She worked at the Greenup Shoe Factory, did babysitting and domestic help and worked at McQuay-Norris for 15 years. She was a member of the Ladies Aide Group at the Lutheran Church and also taught Sunday School there. Surviving are five sons, David Floyd and wife Irene of Casey, Russell Floyd of Lerna, John Floyd of Casey, Kenneth Floyd and wife Dana of Stockton, CA, and Mike Floyd and wife Debbie of Terre Haute, IN, two daughters, Carolyn Boyd and husband Bill of Channahon, IL and Joan Connelly and husband Charles of Peoria, AZ, two brothers Elwood Grissom and wife Evelyn of Greenup and Fred Grissom and wife Phyllis of Mattoon, three sisters Beulah Vaughn of Charleston, Mary McDade and husband Walter of Toledo and Jenny Lee Terrell and husband Neal of Harvey, LA, 31 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson - Billy Boyd, one great-granddaughter Samantha Floyd and two brothers Carl Grissom and Don Ingram.
