Ellen Diane Shaffer Biggs, 59, of Casey, IL formerly of Terre Haute, IN and Collinsville, IL passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Heartland Manor, Casey, IL. She was born November 7, 1951, in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Paul Oral Shaffer and Mary Virginia Barnes Shaffer. On October 21, 1995, she married Bradley Dale Biggs at the United Methodist Church, Springfield, IL. Survivors include her loving husband of fifteen years, Brad Biggs of Casey, IL; daughter, Michelle Davis and husband Caleb of Chatham, IL; son, Michael Tognarelli II and wife Amber of Collinsville, IL; son, David Smith and wife Renee of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Hayley Diane Davis; Izabella Quinn Tognarelli; Michael Lee Tognarelli III; Chase Michael Tognarelli; Whitney Williams; Isaac Smith and Adam Smith; brothers, Paul Shaffer, Jr and wife Julie of New Straightsville, OH; James Smith and wife Connie of Lebanon, IL; Michael Shaffer of Mayfield, KY; Richard Shaffer and wife Amy of Glen Carbon, IL; Roy Shaffer of Mayfield, KY; sisters, Ruth Anne Shellito of Collinsville, IL; Susan Guess and husband Craig of Paducah, KY; stepmother, Ida Mae "Cissy" Shaffer of Mayfield, KY; mother in law, Helen Biggs of Casey, IL; many brothers and sisters in law and her faithful miniature pinscher, Josie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul O. Shaffer and Mary V. Barnes Nesbit and brother, Mark Shaffer. Ellen was an Entrepreneur. She was a 1969 graduate of Collinsville High School. She obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from Belleville Area College. Ellen was President of Lincoln Trail Mortgage, Inc. in Springfield, IL and had been employed in the mortgage business for twenty years. She was a member of the St. Peter & Paul Church in Collinsville, IL. She attended the Casey United Methodist Church. Ellen was a member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and Who's Who In America. She was a wonderful grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Ellen loved cooking and her family especially enjoyed her cannelloni. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Casey United Methodist Church, 703 N State Hwy 49, Casey, IL with the Rev. Dr. Penelope Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N Central Ave., Casey, IL.
