Edward William Walters' Obituary
Edward William "Bill" Walters, 79, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Heartland Manor Nursing Center in Casey, Illinois. He was born September 13, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Victor Walters and Mary Opal Davidson Walters. On March 27, 1951 he married Clara Irene Tipsword in rural Cumberland County, Illinois. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Clara Walters of Casey, IL; son, Jeff Walters of Neoga, IL; son, Edward Walters and wife Suzy of Sperry, OK; daughter, Kathy Hurt and husband Rick of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Eddie Walters, Josh Walters and wife Tricia, Dan Walters and wife Christine, Matt Hurt, Jennifer Carrico and husband John, Jessica Hurt, Erica Creek, Ashley Walters and Cody Walters; great grandchildren, Stephanie Walters, Kyla Walters, Alyssa Walters, Olyvia Walters, Tyler Walters and Ayden Walters; stepmother, Katherine Walters of Decatur, IL; mother in law, Lida Tipsword of Casey, IL; brother, Victor Walters and wife Margaret of Decatur, IL; half brothers, Tom Walters and wife Marie of Mechanicsburg, IL and Robert "Bob" Walters and wife Donna of Taylorville, IL; half sisters, Helen Fortner and husband Bill of Dalton City, IL, Judy Howard of Decatur, IL and Shirley Taylor and husband Gunner of Arcola, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Thomas Cleo Walters on November 10, 1980; two infant sons and brother, Bobby Walters. Bill served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and was a member of the Martinsville American Legion. He worked as carpenter for Union Local 347 in Mattoon. He was a member, elder, trustee and Sunday school teacher at the Word of Life Church in Casey, IL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.. on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, IL with Pastor Terry Blanchard and Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will be in Bell Cemetery, north of Greenup, IL with Military Graveside Rites by the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial tributes and condolences may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com.
