Edward "Gene" Spencer's Obituary
Edward "Gene" Spencer, 80, of Casey, IL passed away at 12:57 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at his home. He was born July 9, 1935 in Sadorus, IL, the son of William Harold Spencer and Evelyn Elaine Bridges Spencer. On June 24, 1955, he married Shirley Irene Massie in Hugo, IL. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Spencer; daughters, Terri (Bill) Orrell of Casey, IL and Shelly Spencer of Martinsville, IL; son, Randy Spencer of Hindsboro, IL; grandchildren, Travis (Jenny) Oakley, Lindsey (Steve) Hall, Deborah (Jeremy) Gosnell, Brandy (Ryan) Nickelson, Trevor (Cortney) Spencer, Chase (Sharon) Griffin, Lynae Simons; great grandchildren, Garrett and Arden Oakley, Hayden Orrell, Carson and Sydnie Hall, Madison, Xander and Emma Gosnell, Gatlin and Gage Nickelson, Kimmy and Kameron Spencer, Indira and Gareth Griffin and Dallas Simons; brothers, Donnie (Rosy) Spencer of Tolono, IL and Wayne (Cathy) Spencer of Murdock, IL; sisters, Mary Lou and Irene and several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Deloros Hawn and two nephews. Gene attended Unity High School. He was employed as Ironworker for over sixty years. He worked through the Ironworkers Local #380 and Hoke Construction in Tuscola, IL. Gene loved his grandchildren and especially enjoyed watching them in their activities. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and NASCAR fan, Rusty Wallace #2 and Tony Stewart #14 were his favorites. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Gene was a member of the Parkville Church in Parkville, IL. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth "Bud" Wade officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
