Doyle Gene "Shake" Beeson's Obituary
Doyle Gene "Shake" Beeson, 87, of Casey, IL formerly of Hillsboro, IL and Fillmore, IL passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. He was born May 6, 1927 in Ratliff City, OK, the son of Johnie Beeson and Audrey Bailey Beeson. On October 23, 1947 he married Barbara Aileen Patterson in Brownstown, IL. Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Barbara Beeson of Casey, IL; daughter, Shirley Whitten and husband Jerrell of Ramsey, IL and Deborah Wygal of Hillsboro, IL; sons, John Beeson and wife Sally of Witt, IL; Nate Beeson and wife Lydia of Greenup, IL; Victor Beeson and wife Lori of Camargo, IL and Vincent Beeson and wife Debra of Tuscola, IL; sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and six great great step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Merle Beeson and sister, Genevieve Flowers. Shake was a 1945 graduate of Brownstown High School. He was a US Navy WWII veteran; serving on the USS Haverfield DE 393 and the USS Cockrill DE 398. Doyle retired after thirty-eight years as an agent operator for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Moriah Church of God, Moriah, IL; the American Legion, the VFW and the Masonic Lodge in Fillmore, IL. Shake's hobbies included crossword puzzles and gun collecting and he was always a practical joker. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Lakins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Cemetery, south of Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
