Dorothy Faye Glidewell's Obituary
Dorothy Faye Glidewell, age 90, of rural Hazel Dell, IL passed away at 2:56 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024 at her home surrounded by her caring family. She was born July 16, 1934 in Ashmore, IL the daughter of Arthur Edward Reddick and Verna Pearl Jackson Reddick. On August 30, 1952 she married Russell Wayne Glidewell in Cumberland County, IL; he passed away on December 11, 2014.
Survivors include her children, David Glidewell (Rosemary) of Hazel Dell, IL; Kathy Smith (Kenny) of Hazel Dell, IL; Marilyn Meeks (Joe) of Hazel Dell, IL and Steve Glidewell (Tammy) of Yale, IL; brother, Russell Reddick (Linda) of Charleston, IL; sister, Janet McMechan of Greenup, IL; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Matthew Meeks of Panama City, FL and Lilly, Colt, Austin and Kimber; Amanda Storms (Anthony) of Wellington, FL and Samantha, Stella and Silas; Joel Meeks (Kristin) of Lubbock, TX and Henry; Jody Blehm (Miles) of Firestone, CO and Rhea and Gavin; Jason Smith (Amber) of Edwardsville, IL and Ellie and Aveline; Jared Smith of Yale, IL and Kora; Erin Fain (Seth) of Casey, IL and Parker, Grady and Cord; Ethan Glidewell of Hazel Dell, IL; Tanner Glidewell of Martinsville, IL and Emma; Ashley Athey (Bryant) of Casey, IL and Blaire, Brecken and Bostyn; Brandon Glidewell of Casey, IL and Harrison. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband five brothers, four sisters and grandson, Eric Glidewell.
Dorothy was a graduate of Westfield high school. She formerly worked as a bookkeeper for Goble Gas in Casey, IL. Dorothy tirelessly worked with her husband in farming and excavating while raising their family. She loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Hazel Dell Church of God with Rev. Rick Emrich officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. prior to the service on Friday evening at the Hazel Dell Church of God, 124 W. Main Street, Hazel Dell, IL. Burial will be held at a later date in Hazel Dell South Cemetery, Hazel Dell, IL.
