Doris Louise Brooks' Obituary
Doris Louise Brooks, 81, of Casey, IL passed away at 9:28 am on Friday, June 15, 2007 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. She was born June 28, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of James A. Wilhite and Louise P. Merz Wilhite. On April 23, 1949 she married Earl T. "Ted" Brooks, he passed away on January 13, 1991. Survivors include daughters, Patricia L. Folkvord and her husband Rusty of Sidney, Montana; Barbara F. Brooks of Casey, Illinois, and Ellen J. Brown and husband Max of Lerna, IL; grandchildren, Caleb J. Brown and Lucas M. Brown. Growing up in Chicago, Doris enjoyed many of the activities that the city offered including music, dancing, golfing, dining out and of course an occasional Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Prior to her marriage she worked at several Chicago firms as a department store clerk, a switchboard operator, and a legal secretary. As a homemaker she enjoyed sewing, baking, and spent many hours with Ted canning produce from the garden. She always found time to pursue her life long passion for reading. Doris was very interested in current events and politics and enjoyed discussing them with family and friends. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 - 2 pm prior to the service. The family requests memorials may be made to Donor's Choice. Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL is in charge of arrangements.
