Donald Lynn Smallwood's Obituary
Donald Lynn Smallwood, 81, of Westfield, Illinois passed away at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Carle Hospital, Urbana, Illinois. He was born on June 10, 1927 in Wheeler, Illinois, the son of William Henry Smallwood and Mary Edith Graham Smallwood. On March 11, 1951 he married Mary Belle Tarr in Wheeler, Illinois. Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Belle Smallwood of Westfield, IL; daughter, Bev Cruse and husband Max of Martinsville, IL and their son, Andy; daughter, Wanda Otto and husband Richard of Arlington, TX and their children, Dusty and Kerri; son, Steve Smallwood and wife Mary of Westfield, IL and their children, Kris, Mary K. and Rob; daughter, Diane Highland and husband Mark of Mattoon, IL and their children, Graham and Mason; four great grandchildren; sister, Helen Allen of Casey, IL; sister, Marie Duffek of Newton, IL; brother, Dean Smallwood of Dundas, IL and brother, Harold Smallwood of Arlington, TX. His parents and brothers, Summers Smallwood, William Smallwood and Duane Smallwood preceded him in death. Don worked as a maintenance man at Trailmobile in Charleston, IL and retired in 1994. He was a US Army WWII veteran. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Mr. Tom Toner officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL with graveside military rites by the Kansas American Legion and the Westfield American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, IL. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the Westfield Public Library, 415 W.
