Donald E "Stub" Brewer's Obituary
Donald E. "Stub" Brewer, 85, of Casey, IL, passed away at 8:30 p.m. at his home in Casey, IL. He was born April 15, 1921, in Casey, IL, the son of John Lewis Brewer and Alma Violet King Brewer. He married Betty Havens on October 26, 1946 in Casey, IL. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Casey, IL; a son Jim Brewer of Casey, IL; a daughter Judy Gross and husband Dave of Martinsville, IL; two grandchildren, Jason and Amy Gross of Martinsville, IL; and a sister-in-law Freda Brewer of Pana, IL. He was preceded by his parents and brother John W. Brewer. Mr. Brewer was a 3 year veteran of WWII in the Navy as a Pharmacy Mate 2nd Class, a member of the Casey United Methodist Church, Casey Country Club lifetime member, member of American Legion of Marshall, Honorary Chairman 2005 Casey Country Club Open, Class of 1939 Casey Varsity Basketball Captain and he won several golf club championships in Pana and Casey. He was a retired Superintendent at Casey Country Club and he worked with his brother at Rose City Cleaners from 1946-1968 in Pana, IL. A Memorial service will be Friday, June 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Casey United Methodist Church with Dr. Penelope Barber officiating. Memorials may be made to Casey United Methodist Church.
