Dola Joyce Markwell's Obituary
Dola Joyce Markwell, 79, of Casey, IL died on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2005 at Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey with Rev. Penelope Barber officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the funeral home and burial will be in the Casey-Cumberland Cemetery. She was born on November 20, 1926 in Charleston, IL, the daughter of Marcus F. and Bernice Wilber Whitworth. She married Lee Clinton Markwell on October 23, 1948 in Charleston, Illinois; he survives. She was a great cook and homemaker. Before retirement she assisted with the family business for Markwell Funeral Home and Ambulance Service for over 40 years. She was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church, Casey Country Club, Golf Hammock Country Club, Sebring, FL; Casey Women's Club, Tuesday Morning Bridge Club, and was a graduate of TCI High School in Charleston, IL. Surviving are her husband, Lee C. Markwell of Casey; daughter, Marca Joyce Shore and her husband Dwight of Marshall; son, John L. Markwell of Casey; son, Jay M. Markwell and his fiance Sandy Briggs of Casey; five grandchildren, Douglas Shore and his wife Heather of Carmel, IN; Heather Shore Shaffner and her husband Lance of Marshall; Megan Markwell of Chicago, IL; and Mitchell and Macy Markwell of Casey; seven great grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah Grace and Rachel Leigh Shore and Madison, Maddie Lee, Spencer and Jacob Shaffner. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Reba Babbitt and Avis Schmitz. Memorials may be made to the Casey United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
