Dickie Joe Burson's Obituary
Dickie Joe Burson, age 85, of Casey, IL passed away at 9:54 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at his home in Casey, IL. He was born July 15, 1936 in Casey, IL the son of Lloyd Franklin Burson, Sr. and Meythal Batman Burson. On March 11, 1963 he married Janet Gayle Street in Terre Haute, IN.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Janet Burson of Casey, IL; children, James Franklin Burson of Mattoon, IL; Shanna Kay Burson of Casey, IL; Sue Ann O'Brien (Chuck) of Lake Ozark, MO; Peggy L. McMillan (Greg) of Casey, IL and Mark A. Burson (Freda) of Greenup, IL; brothers, Dannie E. Burson of Mattawa, WA and Lloyd F. Burson, Jr. of Williamsport, PA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edgar A. Burson and Herbert E. Burson; sister, Mary Lou Milam and son, Randall Joe Burson (Mashell Burson).
Dick attended Casey High School. He was an employed as a meat cutter for various groceries for many years. Dick served as former Governor of Casey Moose Lodge #1545; he was very active with Mooseheart and Loyal Order of the Moose throughout his lifetime. Dick and Janet were faithful members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Casey, IL and previously attended Casey First Baptist Church in their younger years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Casey First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Gene Ellis and Rev. Wade Stine officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside prayer by Father Augustine Koomson. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at Casey First Church of the Nazarene, 1000 US Hwy 40, Casey, IL. (Per CDC Guidelines indoor masks and face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status in the facility. Attendees should also practice social distancing.)
