Deon D Hanners' Obituary
Deon D. Hanners, 86 of Casey, IL passed away at 11:15 pm at his home in Casey, IL. He was born July 21, 1920 in Cumberland County, IL to William Oscar Hanners and Minnie Marie Phillippi Hanners. On August 26, 1944 in England he married Ruth Ambrose, she passed away on June 1, 1981. On June 20, 1992 in Casey, IL he married Joyce Swearingen Shull. Survivors include his wife Joyce Hanners of Casey, IL; sons, John Hanners and wife Louella of Commerce, TX and David Hanners of St. Paul, MN; stepsons, Brent Shull and wife Donna of Casey, IL; Brian Shull and wife Tami of Effingham, IL; Rodney Shull and wife Dena of Casey, IL; and Ivan Shull of Casey, IL; stepdaughters, Brenda Summerville and husband Michael of Chatham, IL and Lisa Williams and husband Terry of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Frieda Hanners of Casey, IL and Donna Alexander and husband John of Dayton, NV; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, fifteen step grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, wife, Ruth Hanners; brother, Clarence Hanners and sisters, Bertha Goodman, Norma Elkins and Ellen Hanners. Deon was a driller for Pure Oil Company and worked for Northern Propane Co. He was a WWII Army veteran and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Casey First Baptist Church, Casey, IL. Military rites will be conducted by the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion. Burial will be at a later date at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 from 4 - 7 pm at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice.
