Denzil Edward Goodwin's Obituary
Denzil Edward Goodwin, 85, of Casey, IL passed away at 2:45 p.m. at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN due to complications from a head injury from a fall in his garage. He was born February 9, 1922 in Annapolis, IL, the son of James H. Goodwin and Maude Mae Ratts Goodwin. On June 16, 1956 he married Betty M. Chesser Facer in Robinson, IL. Survivors include his wife Betty Goodwin of Casey, IL; stepson Okey Facer of Casey, IL; brother Howard Goodwin and wife Neoma of Casey, IL; sister-in-law Christine Goodwin of Casey, IL; grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His parents, brother Clarence Goodwin and 3 sisters, Ruby Taylor, Mabel Leeman and Velma Lovell preceded him. Denzil worked as a stitcher at the Casey Ettelbrick Shoe Company until he retired in 1975 after becoming disabled. He served 3 1/2 years in the Army during WWII. Most of his military duty was overseas serving in Africa, France, Belguim, Italy and Germany. When he was a teenager he joined the CCC Camp and helped build Fox Ridge State Park. He was a member of the Casey VFW Post 5762. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Markwell & Son Funeral Home, Casey with Pastor Terry Blanchard officiating. Burial will be in Washington Street Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by the Casey VFW Post 5762 and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Casey VFW Post 5762.
