Denzel Dwayne "Denny" Melton's Obituary
Denzel Dwayne "Denny" Melton of Casey, IL formerly of the Trilla, IL and Westfield, IL area passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. He was born January 21, 1923 in Martinsville, IL, the son of Ray Melton and Iva Mae Biggs Melton. On June 13, 1943 he married Phyllis Rogene Moody in Charleston, IL. She passed away on January 10, 2012. Survivors include son, Dale Melton and wife Linda of Casey, IL; son, Ron Melton and wife Glenna of Westfield, IL; daughter, Kelly Weir and husband Randy of Westfield, IL; grandchildren, Randy Melton and wife Mary of Casey, IL; Sara Paap and husband Tim of Mattoon, IL and Steven Melton of Casey, IL; great grandchildren, Zack Paap and Rachel and Branden Melton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Phyllis Melton on January 10, 2012; brothers, Kenneth, James and Jack Melton and daughter in law, Donna Melton. Denny was a retired farmer. He was a Bank Director for the Bank of Casey, Ambank and Union Planters Bank from 1977 to 1994. Previously, he served as a Westfield IL School Board Member. Denny was one of the original founders of the Nu-Way Fertilizer Company in Casey, IL in the early 1950's. He was a lifetime member of the Trilla Masonic Lodge. Denny enjoyed tinkering with CB and Ham radios, camping and traveling. He especially enjoyed watching the Casey Westfield girls softball games. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
