Denver Morris Mumford's Obituary
Denver Morris Mumford, 93, of Casey, IL passed away at 1:20 am on Monday, February 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. He was born June 2, 1921 in Martinsville, IL, the son of Joal Frank Mumford and Maude Opal Sherman Mumford. On January 18, 1942, he married Wilma "Winnie" Rogene Barker in St. Charles, MO. She passed away on January 4, 2012. Survivors include his son, Dennis Mumford and wife Nancy of Casey, IL; grandsons, Jason Bryce Mumford of Sarasota, FL; Ryan Lee Mumford and wife Sarah of St. Charles, MO; Jeremy Thomas Mumford and wife Amanda of Casey, IL; great grandchildren, Cole, Owen, Kaitlyn, Elijah, Daisy, Jack and Wilma Violet Mumford and brother Ronald Mumford and wife Karina of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Winnie Mumford; infant daughter, Connie Jean Mumford; brothers, Pearl Mumford, Carl Mumford; sisters, Rosalee Blankenbaker, Eleanor Stifal, Lucille Weber and Lillian Hoppe. Denver was a US Army WWII veteran serving his country from 1942 to 1946. He worked in the oilfield for Forest Oil Co. for 20 years and retired as the water department foreman from the City of Casey after 17 years. Denver was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Casey and the Casey VFW. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church, 200 SE Eighth St., Casey, IL 62420.
