Dennis Lee Pine's Obituary
Dennis Lee Pine, age 79, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born February 26, 1944 in Marshall, IL, the son of Lee Ellis Pine and Esther Patricia (Huey) Pine. On January 23, 1965, he married Betty Estelene Hanners in Martinsville, IL; they shared 50 years of marriage before she passed away on May 5, 2015.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Allen Pine of Casey, IL; granddaughters, Abigail Bloemker (Brendon) of Arcola, IL and Aubrey Cope (Dean) of Paris, IL; great grandchildren, AnnaBelle, Callie Jo, Cooper, and Arlo; brother, Gary Pine of Highland, IL; sister, Evelyn Stepp (Jim) of Kokomo, IN; sister in-law, Helen Lee of Martinsville, IL; and nephews, Jack Rardin (Lori), Brent Rardin, Kirk Rardin (Donna), Andy Rardin (Amy), and Patrick Pine. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; father and mother in-law, George and Evia Hanners, brothers-in-law, Jim Lee and Bill Rardin, sister in-law, Barbara Rardin; and great nephew, Aurek Rardin.
Dennis attended school in Martinsville, IL and was a lifelong resident. He was a highly skilled mechanic. He shared his talents with many garages in the area before retiring from Wiseman's Pontiac GMC in Robinson, IL. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family; he especially enjoyed his granddaughters and their children.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Huey officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to Santa's Helpers c/o Casey State Bank, 10 E. Cumberland St., P.O. Box 643, Martinsville, IL 62442. Donations can be mailed, given to the funeral home, or taken to the Casey State Bank, Martinsville branch.
