Dean Franklin Shute's Obituary
Dean Franklin Shute, age 91, of Casey, IL passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Simple Blessings, Casey, IL. He was born December 21, 1930 in Casey, IL, the son of John Franklin Shute and Eva Mae Kite Shute. On November 12, 1961 he married Carolyn Sue Hills in Casey, IL; she passed away on March 14, 2018.
Survivors include his daughters, Sarah Gilbert (James) of Casey, IL and Dena Gard (Eric) of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Ceara Gilbert Edwards, Derek Gilbert (Kayla), Nikolaus Gard and Mikaela Gard; great grandchildren, Maverick Edwards, Gryffin Wheeler, Ellianna and Emory Dungan, Connor Gilbert and Caroline Gilbert; sisters in law, Mary Lou Shute of Tuscola, IL and Joyce Madlem of Newton, IL and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Darrell Shute (Peggy) and Dolph Shute and sister, Irma Robinson (Harold).
Dean was a 1948 graduate of Casey High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Dean was employed as a mechanic for Casey Farm Pride for over 50 years. He was a faithful member of Friendship Church where he also served as superintendent and taught Sunday school. He was also a member of Casey Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Dean enjoyed hunting and working on cars and machinery.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Robby Robinson, Jr. and Rev. Ray Finney officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
