David Martin's Obituary
David Paul Martin, age 81, of Wheeler, died on Sunday, July 3, 2005 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton with Bro. Brad Harper officiating. Visitation will be held on July 4, 2005 at the funeral home and burial will be in the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton with full Military Rites. He was born March 26, 1924 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Vernon and Thelma Baker Martin. He married Dora Baker on February 8, 1947; she survives. He served in the US Army during WWII and retired from Fedders after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Christian Church of Palestine and a member of the Dieterich American Legion. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Dora Martin of Wheeler, daughters Sue Ann Martin, Betty Yaw and husband Tom of Newton and Judy Petard of Wheeler, sisters Geneva Nidey of Palestine and Lola Corder of Palestine, grandchildren Jeanie Burrell, David Yaw, Chad Petard and Tammy Lawyer and husband Eric, great-grandchildren Josh Burrell, Taylor Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Ashley Lawyer, Josh Lawyer and Riley Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the Newton Christian Church.
