David N Lashmet's Obituary
David N. Lashmet, 76, of Toledo, IL passed away at 6:20 AM on Friday July 10, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 15, 2009 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Burial will be in the Lashmet edition of the Toledo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday July 14, 2009 at the Funeral Chapel and from 10:00 am till services time on Wednesday. David was born on June 28, 1933 in Jacksonville, IL the son of Edwin J. & E'Lois (Markwell) Lashmet. He married Mary Frances Brown on August 3, 1957. Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Fran Lashmet of Toledo, IL; son, Mark J. Lashmet of Toledo; daughter, Lesa and husband Jim Sutton of Marshall, IL; sister, Joyce Fearheiley of Decatur, three grandsons, Chris and wife Bethany Nichols of Findlay, IL; acob Lashmet of Toledo; Andrew and wife Heather Beeson of Marshall, and great-grandchildren, Braeden David Nichols and Reese Erin Nichols. David was preceded in death by his parents. David attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1955. He then graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in business education in 1957. He taught briefly in the Neoga School District. David owned and operated Lashmet Funeral Home in Toledo with his father Ed until his retirement, and continued in the funeral service until 1971. He then worked as a Country Insurance Agent for 38 years. David served 28 years on the First Neighbor Bank board of directors, and the Neal Foundation for many years. He was a member of Toledo Kiwanis for 48 years serving as president for two terms. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cumberland County Life Center, or donor's choice.
