David Neil Kendall's Obituary
David Neil Kendall, age 89, of Martinsville, Illinois, embarked on his greatest journey on Sunday evening, November 4, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born November 2, 1929, in Gary, Indiana, the son of Roy Galey and Evelyn Kendall Galey. On August 2, 1958, he married Alta Camille Julian. She passed away on February 26, 2002. He later married Della Marlene Sallens Janney on February 4, 2004. She passed away on May 3, 2007.Survivors include his daughters, Jane Ella Taylor (Mark) of Alton, IL, and Julia Kendall Chang (Lance) of Wilmington, NC; brother, Kenneth Galey of Pasadena, MD; sister, Sara Smith (Walter) of Lady Lake, FL; sisters-in-law, Delores Galey of Tucson, AZ, and Marie Galey of Crawfordsville, IN; grandchildren, Ryan Yepsen (Katie) of Detroit, MI, Kieran Chang of St. Louis, MO, and Isabel Chang; great-grandson, Luke Yepsen, and his dear friend, Judy Fippinger of Danville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, and brothers, Lyle Galey and Walter Galey, and sister-in-law, Frances Galey.David served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1949 - 1952. He retired after 35 years of employment with McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO as a Wind Tunnel Engineer. David was a member of the Martinsville Bible Church, where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of the Martinsville American Legion, as well as an Eagle Scout and a Boy Scout volunteer. David was extremely talented. He had a passion for creating beauty as a talented woodworker and artist. He was an avid book and stamp collector, acquiring an enviable collection, and was forever young in his curiosity. He was well educated and well-traveled, with a generous heart that knew no bounds. He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return by his family and many others.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Martinsville Bible Church with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by Martinsville American Legion and Casey VFW following the service at the church. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the service at Martinsville Bible Church, 509 E. Ridgelawn Road, Martinsville, IL. Burial will be at a later date in Eldred Memorial Cemetery, Eldred, IL.Memorial donations may be made to Martinsville Public Library, 120 E.
