David Dery's Obituary
David M. Dery, age 56, of Martinsville, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville with Pastor Art Orndorff officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on February 3, 2006 at the funeral home and burial will be in the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Martinsville with Military Rites performed by the Marshall American Legion Post #90. He was born August 11, 1949, the son of Denzel "Jack" Nugent and Levera Inez LaDow. He married Sue Ann Wilson on October 22, 1967; she survives. He was self employed in the trucking and transportation business. He was a veteran of the US Navy and attended the Martinsville First Baptist Church. He enjoyed motorcycles, drag racing, camping, music and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Heritage Trail ABATE and a licensed Ham Radio Operator. Surviving are his wife, Sue Dery of Martinsville, sons Jeffrey Alan Dery and finace' Diane of Marshall and William David Dery and wife Deloras of Martinsville, daughters Laura Lynn Johnson and husband Harold of Casey and Amber Elaine Slusser and husband Jason of West Union, half-brother Donald Hawk of Elkart, IN, sisters Nancy Hutson of Paris and Jackie Blanford of Vermillion, step-parents Jack and Edith Nugent of Granite City, seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Martinsville First Baptist Church.
