Daniel J."Dan" Napier's Obituary
Daniel J. "Dan" Napier, age 78, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family after enduring symptoms of Amyloidosis for eight courageous years from Agent Orange exposure during his tour in Vietnam. He succumbed to complications of this rare disease and pneumonia. Dan was born October 20, 1946 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Charles Victor "Chuck" Davidson, Sr. and Helen June (Napier) Davidson. On May 16, 1970 he married Susan K. "Suzy" VanMatre in Elizabeth, CO, together they shared fifty-five wonderful years.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Suzy Napier of Martinsville, IL, daughters, Kelly Loftis (Dan) of Casey, IL and Michelle Bennett (Troy) of Marshall, IL; brother, Charles "Chuck" Davidson, Jr. of Robinson, IL; sisters, Brenda Roberts of Casey, IL and Charlotte June Noffke of Strasburg, IL; grandchildren, Justin Brandenburg (Katie) of Denver, Co, Ethan Brandenburg (Whitney) of Mattoon, IL, Brockton Williams of Joliet, IL, Alexis Featherston (Alex) of Martinsville, IL; great grandchildren, Conner Brandenburg, Noah Brandenburg, and Henry Brandenburg all of Mattoon, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Dennis Lee Noffke; and sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Davidson.
Dan was a 1964 graduate of Martinsville High School. He honorably served his country in the US Army Vietnam War from 1967-1968. Dan retired from Martinsville Roofing after thirty-two years. An avid fisherman and golfer, he enjoyed the great outdoors. Dan 's greatest gift was his precious family, he cherished time spent with all of them.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Martinsville, IL with military honors. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
