Dale Craig White's Obituary
Dale Craig White, 90, a 50-year resident of Las Vegas, NV died Thursday, August 7, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on January 25, 1918 in Rardin, Coles County, Illinois, the son of Algernon SydneyWhite and Nancy Belle Craig White. He is survived by his wife Shelia A.White of Las Vegas, NV; his children, Algernon and Carolyn White, Darren and Shelly Powers, all of Las Vegas, NV; Ken Powers of California and Kim Tarver of Texas; and grandchildren, Christopher and Alison Powers. Dale served in the US Army during WWII, arriving in Hawaii thirty days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. He would remain there throughout the war and was honorably discharged in 1945 after attaining the Rank of Master Sergeant. After the War, he returned to Illinois to Farm Management. In Las Vegas, Dale was a Real Estate Broker and owner of White Realty for forty years. Dale was a charter member and served as Commander of the Las Vegas Power Squadron in 1977, a Life Member of Las Vegas Elks Lodge, and a Charter Member of the Warm Springs Baptist Church. Local graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Martinsville, Illinois with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Martinsville American Legion Post #515. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Walnut Grove Christian Church in Arcola, Illinois. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the Walnut Grove Christian Church, 12930 E CR 1700 N, Arcola, IL 61910.
