Dale E. Stephens' Obituary
Dale Stephens, age 86, passed away peacefully in Anderson, South Carolina, after a brief illness on July 12, 2024. Dale was born on January 21, 1938, in Oblong, Illinois, to the late Noble and Rose Stephens, and spent his entire life dedicated to his family, friends, and career.
Dale was an honorable man of integrity, devoted husband, committed father, loving grandfather, and cherished friend. Dale received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1956. Dale had a great love for fishing and fished whenever he had the chance. Dale was a private person, but he would go out of his way to help anyone in need, whether a friend or someone he had met for the very first time. Known for his exceptional work ethics, and kind demeanor, Dale provided his clients with quality and timely service. Dale diligently worked to provide a wonderful, stable life for his wife Cecile. After retiring in Hobe Sound, Florida, Dale moved to Belton, South Carolina, embracing a quiet life enriched by the company of his family. Dale, (Grandpa), enjoyed nothing more than time spent with his family.
This simple obituary does not come close to fully describing Dale's life, but it serves as a tribute to a man who was greatly loved, wonderfully admired, deeply respected, and a man who will be sadly missed by everyone. Dale 's life story is a vivid picture of honor, dedication, perseverance, and commitment, leaving others inspired by his humility, compassion, and personal kindness.
Funeral services will be held at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, Illinois, on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in Partlow Cemetery, rural Clark County, IL. The family humbly invites everyone to his visitation on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10 - 11 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
Dale is survived by his wife, Cecile Stephens (Bennett), of nearly 68 years of marriage, three children, Debbie (Don) Daughtery, Michael (Dinah) Stephens, and Monty (Cindy) Stephens, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, one brother, Donald Stephens and three sisters, Mary Ann Steenbergen Weidenbacher, Sue Snearley and Kay Fuson. His legacy will continue to influence the people he loved so dearly for generations to come.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Rose Stephens, sisters, Deanna Clark and Patsy Stephens and brothers, Ben Stephens and David Stephens.
Dale will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be remembered for his simple, unassuming nature, and his profound impact on the lives he touched.
