Dale Eugene Hall's Obituary
Dale Eugene Hall, age 89, of Cross Plains, TN passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. He was born February 11, 1933 in Paris, Illinois to Luther Martin & Mabel Estella Sublett Hall.
He was a hard worker and began working on his family and neighbor's farms at an early age. He later worked for Hulcher Train Derailment Services and owned the 76 Filling Station and Garage in Virden, Illinois. In 1972, he became a heavy equipment operator for the Kentucky pipeline and then retired as a semi-truck driver, working for both Yellow Freight and Ryder/PIE Trucking Company. He was part of the Teamster's Union for almost fifty years. As a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was unceasingly fair and generous. He played an active role in his children and his grandchildren's lives, providing them life skills ranging from teaching them to drive at a young age to essential farming skills, just as he was raised. There were few subjects Dale couldn't speak about or had considerable knowledge on. Many referred to him as a walking encyclopedia. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and farmer. He had vast mechanical skills and could repair anything from various types of vehicles to rebuilding portions of his home, a nearly 100-year-old log cabin.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Claude Hall; and sister, Mary Etta Hall Finney. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lou V. Hall of Cross Plains, TN; children, Lynette Susan Hall Riddle, Beth Ann Hall Melton, Roger Alan Hall all of Springfield, IL and Kristi Lee (Ray) Hall Lancaster of Auburn, IL; step-sons, Kenneth Greer Bond of Portland, TN, Karl Edwin (Rhonda) Bond of Center, KY, and Kent Duane (Carolyn) Gracey of Rensselaer, NY; step-daughter, Janelle Arlene Gracey (Rob) Coons of Jacksonville, IL; seventeen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
