Daisy May Burkhardt, 74, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 1:49 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL. She was born August 11, 1940 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of William Henry Green and Mary Elizabeth Heck Green. On September 7, 1957 she married George Paul Burkhardt in Marshall, IL. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, George Burkhardt of Martinsville, IL; daughters, Mary Bartels and husband Paul of Plainfield, IL, Paula Pozdal and husband Dan of Mokena, IL and Cheryl Bukowski and husband Josh of Bolingbrook, IL; mother, Mary Green of Casey, IL; sister, Irene Waller and husband Vern of Casey, IL; brother, Jim Green and wife Patty of Salem, MO; sisters in law, Rita Green of Speedway, IN and Marie Handley and husband Donald of Casey, IL and grandchildren, Emily and Paul Bartels Jr., Sarah and Brian Pozdal and Ivy and Jade Bukowski. She was preceded by her father and a brother, Richard Green. Daisy attended Casey High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and caregiver. Daisy was a member of the East Side Church of Christ in Casey, IL and the Cherry Hill Church of Christ in Joliet, IL. She enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lindsey Cemetery, Clark County, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
