Cyrena Elizabeth Gruning, 81, of Casey, IL passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. She was born on August 7, 1933 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Marion Raymond Crampton and Fon Lenora Perisho Crampton. On May 2, 1954 in Casey, IL she married Robert Raymond Gruning. He passed away March 30, 2008. Survivors include her son, Charles "Chuck" and wife Carmen of Casey, IL; daughters, Maralina Mason and husband Larry of Belair, IL, Fon Gruning of Casey, IL and Jacqueline "Jackie" Davis of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Stanley Mason, Sheena Hammond and husband Jacob, Darcey Valle and husband Alfredo, Jr., Eric Duvall and wife Lucille, Dennis Davis, Shawn Gruning and wife Katie, and Dayla Davis and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband, step brother, Wayne Simpson and grandson, Darryl Duvall. Cyrena was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and canning. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Cemetery, rural Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
