Colten LaVerl Oakley's Obituary
Colten LaVerl Oakley, age 36, of Westfield, IL formerly of Toledo, IL passed away on Saturday evening, August 20, 2022. He was born April 19, 1986 in Mattoon, IL the son of Vernon Dale "Sonny" Oakley, Jr. and Lee Ann Marie Evans Oakley.
Survivors include his parents, Lee Ann Higginbotham (Michael Gene) of Charleston, IL and Sonny Oakley (Diana) of Greenup, IL; sister, Deborah Edwards (Seth) of Westfield, IL; nephews and niece, Tyson, Peyton and Amelia Edwards; maternal grandparents, John and Olive Evans of Westfield, IL; uncles and aunts, Debbie Davidson, Jay Evans, Tom Evans (Kim), Mike Light, and Gail Davidson; step-grandparents, Donald and Marie Handley, additional in-laws, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vernon and Jean Oakley, Sr., step-grandparents, Chester and Beverly Higginbotham and aunt, Brenda Light.
Colten was a 2004 graduate of Casey Westfield High School and continued his education at Lake Land College. He was formerly employed with Shore Farms in Casey, IL. Colten was a member of Westfield United Methodist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, farming and music. His musical talent allowed him to write music and play many instruments.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Westfield Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Black and Pastor Walter Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Richwood Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday evening at Westfield Methodist Church, 225 S. Madison St., Westfield, IL.
