Cleo G Hart Ellexson's Obituary
Cleo G. (Hart) Ellexson passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. She was born June 29, 1921 in Decatur, Illinois to Lawrence Earl and Dora Hazel (Randolph) Hart. She was raised in Hillsboro, Illinois as part of large family of 11 children. Cleo married Floyd Wilson Ellexson October 4, 1940 and they became parents to three children Randy L., C. Sue and Jerry D. Ellexson. Cleo and Floyd "Curly" Ellexson moved to Casey in 1946 where Floyd and his brother Cash Matzenbacher started M & E Drilling Company. After Floyd's death in 1956, Cleo and her children moved to Phoenix, Arizona. During her years in Phoenix from 1957-1963 Cleo completed her education in secretarial training, initiated and executed projects to benefit various school organizations. She also used her entrepreneurial business skills to create and operate a neighborhood café. In her free time she enjoyed golf and outings to some of Arizona's beautiful natural attractions. From 1963-1974 Cleo lived in Prescott, Arizona where she designed and built one of the first homes in the Prescott Valley area. During her years in Prescott Cleo worked as a bookkeeper, restaurant manager and real estate broker. Returning to Phoenix from 1974-1984 Cleo worked for the State of Arizona. Following her retirement from the State of Arizona, Cleo moved to Corsicana, Texas where she was the office manager for Navarro County Pregnancy Counseling Center. From 1996 until her death Cleo lived in Dallas, Texas. Cleo is survived by her three children, Randy Ellexson of Phoenix, Arizona, Sue [Mrs. Steve] Sullins of Dallas, Texas and Jerry (Jenny) Ellexson of Durango Colorado. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Brian Ellexson (Devra) of Phoenix; Amanda Ellexson, Georgetown, Delaware; Jessica (Sullins) [Mrs. Derek] Bonesteel, Houston, Texas and two daughters, Zoe and Alexandra; Stephanie Sullins, Los Angeles, California and one daughter Ellex Sullins; Levi Ellexson (Andrea), Crest Hill, Illinois and one daughter Shea Elizabeth, Chris Ellexson of Casey, Illinois. She is survived by her sister Doris (Hart) Rappe of Decatur, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, five brothers Don, Dale, Richard, Joseph Marvelous and Cecil and three sisters, Lucille "Peg" (Hart) Barno, Beulah (Hart) Chesser, and Barbara (Hart) Blackburn. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL.
