Charles W. "Bill" Savage, 78, of Casey, IL and Naples, FL passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. He was born March 23, 1933 in Fairfield, IL, the son of Charles E. Savage and Anna Louise Nielsen Savage. On January 9, 1984, he married Claudette A. Jennings in Casey, IL. She passed away on October 7, 1997. Survivors include son, Chris Savage and wife Carol of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Diane Anderson and husband Tim of Casey, IL daughter, Jeannie Rosenberry of Sheboygan, WI; son, Lindsey Tanner and wife Frances of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Traci Johnson of Casey, IL; sister, Joyce Biggs and husband Ben of Atlanta, GA; mother of his children, Shirley Beeson Savage of Casey, IL; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Claudette A. Savage and infant grandsons, Charles Eric Savage and Christopher Tanner. Bill, along with his father, was the owner and operator of Savage Auto Sales in Casey, IL from 1947 through the mid 1990's. He was a retired Mayor for the City of Casey, IL from 1977 to 1985 and 1993 to 1999. He had previously served an Alderman from 1975 to 1977. Bill was instrumental in the City of Lights project, the new water towers and many of the road, sidewalk and storm water drain projects in and around Casey, IL including the Route 49 project to widen the road with a turning lane. Bill was the first Mayor of Casey to join the Central Illinois Municipal Official Association and was a member of the Southern Mayor's Association. He was a member of the Clark County Shrine Club, which helped to establish the Shriner's Fourth of July Parade held each year in Casey, IL and a member of the Clark County Shriner's Motorcycle Patrol 1040. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Inurnment will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL at a later date. The family will greet visitors from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2509 S. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820 or the Casey Senior Citizen's Center, 14 S.
