Charles A Ritter's Obituary
Charles A. Ritter, 83, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Heartland Manor in Casey, Illinois. He was born September 23, 1925 in Jasper County, Illinois, the son of James Fremont Ritter and Deila "Ethel" Hickox Ritter. On May 9, 1946 he married Ramona June Hopkins in Newton, Illinois. She passed away on July 27, 2004. Survivors include his daughters, Gayle Fossoy and husband Dan of Independence, KS and Toni Humphres and husband Jim of Rose Hill, IL; his son, Brent Ritter and wife Gina of Casey, IL and granddaughters, Jennifer Humphres and Whitney Ritter. His parents, wife, Ramona Ritter; brothers, William Ritter and Doyt Ritter and sisters, Margaret "Maggie" Drake, Mary Ludwig and Lois I. Ritter preceded him in death. Mr. Ritter was a retired lifelong farmer and served many years as Johnson Township Supervisor. He was a lifetime member and served as an elder of the Walnut Chapel Church of Christ. He served his country during WWII as a gunner in the US Navy. One ship he served on participated in the Invasion of Normandy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Bro. Boyd Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Cemetery, south of Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the Walnut Chapel Church of Christ, 1756 E 200th, Casey, IL 62420.
