Charles Dewain Harlan's Obituary
Charles Dewain Harlan, age 73, of Mt. Vernon, IL formerly of Greenup, IL passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Greentree Assisted Living in Mt. Vernon, IL. He was born February 16, 1952 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Philoman Glen Harlan and Edith Ellen (Marlow) Harlan. On September 4, 1976 he married Kim Michelle Winnett in Greenup, IL.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kim Harlan of Mt. Vernon, IL; siblings, Jack Harlan (JoAnna) of West Frankfort, IL; Gary Harlan (Donna) of West Frankfort, IL and Sharon Bartlett of California; father in law, Jim Winnett of Casey, IL; sisters in law, Tami Fritts (Kerry) of Greenup, IL and Kris Spraker (Butch) of Casey, IL; many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Edith Harlan; brothers, Jim Harlan and William (Bud) Harlan; mother in law, Sandra Winnett and niece, Ellen Bartlett.
Charles attended Cumberland High School. He was an over the road truck driver for over 40 years and was a member of the Oldtimers Car Club for over 7 years.
Graveside service and burial will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Harmony Cemetery, rural Greenup, IL with Phillip Palmer officiating.
