Charles Luther Clapp, 86, of Westfield, IL passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Heartland Nursing Center in Casey, IL. He was born on July 30, 1927 in Ashmore, IL, the son of Charles Clapp and Helen Prince Clapp. Survivors include his daughter, Kay Mitchell of Casey, IL; son, Daniel James Clapp and wife Rose of Kansas, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer Ellington and husband Chris of Martinsville, IL, Anthony Decker of Casey, IL, and Kyle Clapp of Homer, IL; great granddaughters, Tori Ellington and Alyssa Decker; and sisters, Wanda Warpenburg of Charleston, IL, Barb Adams and husband Jess of Arcola, IL, and Winnie Holly and husband Wayne of Kansas, IL. He was preceded by his parents, son in law, Roy Mitchell; and brothers, Earl Clapp, Darrell "Doc" Clapp, and Donald Clapp. Luther was a self-employed bulldozer at Clapp's Bulldozing and was employed at Ashmore Elevator for 20 years. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Gene Southard officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Omar Cemetery, rural Ashmore, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N Central Ave., Casey, IL.
