Carroll Rowe's Obituary
Carroll Rowe, 95, of St. Clara's Manor, Lincoln, IL formerly of 395 Campus View Dr. Lincoln, IL and a resident of Tuscola from 1963 to 2001, passed away Saturday December 16, 2006 at 2:00 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, IL. He was born February 3, 1911 in Herrin, IL to L. Frank and Jean Lauder Rowe. He married Ruth V. Parsons June 13, 1937 in Herrin, IL. She died March 14, 1962 in McLeansboro, IL. He married Juney A. Cooley of Casey, April 30, 1965 in Tuscola, IL. She survives. Surviving are four daughters, Janis (Ronald) Watson of Little Rock, AR; Charlene S. Kimpler of Morton, IL, Deborah (Robert) Eckert and Cathie (David) Edwards of Lincoln, IL; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Aline Grissom and Genevieve Lowman, one son, Charles R. Williams, one grandson, John Thomas M. Watson, and one granddaughter, Skye A. Edwards. He managed a coal yard in Sikeston, MO, worked in meat packing in St. Louis, MO. He then worked for the US Census Bureau out of Pittsfield, IL. In 1948 he moved his family to McLeansboro, IL and bought a Newspaper Agency, which he ran for 3 years. In 1951 he became a REA Express Agent. He also worked for Burns Security. He retired in 1972. Upon retirement he became an avid gardener. He was a former member of McLeansboro First Baptist Church and Hillcrest Baptist in Tuscola, IL. In both churches he served as a Deacon, Song Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. In his younger years he sang in a men's quartet at church. Graveside services will be Tuesday December 19, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, IL with Rev. Curt Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. at Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of the donors choice. Cards of condolence may be sent to Juney Rowe at St. Clara's Manor, 200 5th Lincoln, IL. Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL are in charge of arrangements.
