Carl Eugene "Gene" Snearley's Obituary
Carl Eugene "Gene" Snearley, 65, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at St. Anthony Hospital, Effingham, IL. He was born December 23, 1942 in Greenup, IL the son of Carl Snearley and Jessie Maurine Inman Snearley. On January 27, 1962 he married Sue Annette Stephens in Martinsville, IL. Survivors include his wife, Sue Snearley of Casey, IL; son, Shannon Snearley of Casey, IL; daughters, Annette Champagne and husband Stephen of Bristol, CT and Penny Snearley of Casey, IL; parents, Carl and Maurine Snearley of Casey, IL; brothers, Jerry Snearley and wife Sherri of Martinsville, IL; Bill Snearley of Martinsville, IL and Ron Snearley and wife Lori of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Ann McMorris and husband Bill of Greenup, IL and Marsha Ring and husband Dennis of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Daniel, Stephen, Jennifer, and Michelle Champagne, Mychaela, Austin and Hallie Snearley; Christopher and Jacob Feezel-Myers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by infant daughter, Peggy Lynn Snearley and brother, Michael Lee Snearley. Gene was a truck driver and oilfield worker. He had previously worked for Snearley & Co. several years before retiring. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed coon, quail and deer hunting and belonged to various hunting clubs. He was a member of the Round Grove Sportsman's Club. He also enjoyed garden tractor pulling. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Pastor Terry Blanchard officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery, Clark County, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2509 S.
