Burnie Maynard's Obituary
Burnie Maynard, Sr., age 75, of Beverly Hills, FL, formerly of Casey, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home in Casey with Gale Towles officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home and burial will be in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. He was born October 14, 1929 in Ferguson, WV, the son of Floyd and Georgia Stapleton Maynard. He married Dorothy Curry on April 1, 1949 in Pikesville, KY; she preceded him in death on August 23, 1991. He later married Betty M. Hughes; she survives. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the West Virginia National Guard and the West Citrus Church of Christ in Crystal River. Surviving are his wife, Betty Maynard of Beverly Hills, FL, sons Floyd W. Maynard and wife Lena of Madison, WV and Anthiel "Butch" Maynard and wife Debbie of Haines City, FL, daughters Connie Hawker and husband Joseph of Martinsville, IL, Martella "Tillie" Evans and husband Steve of Beauty, KY, Myrtie "Joni" Snearley of Martinsville, Vivian "Dibber" Grissom and husband Tim of Toledo, daughter-in-law Auddie Maynard of Casey and son-in-law Don Hall of Pauldine, OH, step-sons Wesley P. Hughes and wife Michelle of Clearwater, FL, Timothy D. Hughes and wife Susan of Inglis, FL, Terry D. Hughes and wife Janice of Saginaw, TX, and Steven E. Hughes and wife Tina of Homosassa, FL, two sisters Ruby Irwin and Jane Kitchen and friend Gary Bailey of Casey, 26 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy Maynard, son Burnie "BJ" Maynard,Jr., and daughter Gaynell Hall. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice.
