Burl W Tharp's Obituary
Burl W. Tharp, 89, of the IL Veteran's Home in Quincy, IL formerly of Casey, IL passed away at 6:20 p.m. at Blessings Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born April 4, 1920 in Cumberland County, IL, the son of Jess Tharp and Nola E. Packer Tharp. Survivors include sons, Robert L. Tharp and wife Pamela of Hesperia, CA, Thomas L. Tharp and wife Pamela of Toledo, IL and Stephyn W. Tharp of Casey, IL; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, three brothers, five sisters and one great grandson. Burl was a retired truck driver for Anderson Motors in Indianapolis and the Ettlebrick Shoe Factory in Casey and Greenup, IL. He was a US Army WWII veteran and a member of the Casey VFW Post 5762. He was a member of the Englewood Christian Church in Indianapolis, IN, the Casey Moose and former member of the PWP (Parents Without Partners). Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Ivan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazel Dell Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the Casey VFW, 300 S. Central Ave., Casey, IL 62420.
