Brenda Doreen Murphy's Obituary
Brenda Doreen Murphy, 66, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 5:55 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at her home. She was born July 2, 1947 in Lawrenceville, IL, the daughter of Henry Alva Murphy and Pansy Marie Ice Murphy. Survivors include her brothers, Martin Murphy of Marshall, IL and David Murphy and wife Janet of Martinsville, IL; nephew, David Murphy II and fiancé Veronica Ewbank of Martinsville, IL and close family friend, Ruth Kidd of Martinsville, IL. Brenda was the Senior Social Center Director in Casey, IL and attended the Oliver United Methodist Church. She was very musical and played the keyboard, guitar and harmonica plus enjoyed singing gospel music at nursing homes and churches. Brenda wrote and recorded a gospel recording in the mid 70's. She loved children and all ages of people and taught music lessons and had been a Girl Scout leader and softball coach in Martinsville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Oliver United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Duke officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the Oliver United Methodist Church, 550 IL Hwy 1, Marshall, IL.
